DESCRIPTION:
APW - Illinois, grade 174-B, extremely rare, "John M Roberts, Pittsburgh" private label on dial and movement, 16S, GF HC recase, SW-LS, WE-DSD, fully capped lever escapement, capped third wheel, 23J, pinstripe pattern NI damascene, s#1313954. Only 10 total 23J grade 174-B hunting mvts were produced in a single production run, likely all for John M Roberts.
CONDITION:
Mvt: GRO, near mint mvt condition overall, some MFS, oxide spots on winding wheel; dial with light hl at 11, light hl under seconds-register, surface dirtiness; excellent hands; case shows light wear, MFS, dent on band at 12 and numerous dings on band, mild shallow dent to upper front, engraving detail and ET somewhat reduced, front lid opens a bit past 90 degrees; tight brassy bow, oversize replacement crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
